Google DeepMind, Schmidt Sciences, and other organizations have launched a $10 million funding initiative to address challenges in multi-agent AI safety, focusing on frameworks to understand and mitigate risks in large-scale AI systems. The funding emphasizes the development of tools to predict, measure, and monitor emergent behaviors, which are currently lacking in robust evaluation methods. Researchers are encouraged to submit proposals in four priority areas, including sandboxes, agent networks, infrastructure, and oversight, with applications due by August 8, 2026.
