Vercel Releases Eve: An Open-Source AI Agent Framework Where Each Agent is a Directory of Files Mapped to Capabilities
Vercel has open-sourced eve, an Apache-2.0 framework for building durable backend AI agents where each agent is defined as a directory of files (agent config, instructions, tools, skills, connections, channels, schedules). It ships with durable execution, sandboxed compute, human-in-the-loop approvals, secure MCP/OpenAPI connections, multi-channel support, and built-in tracing/evals. Vercel runs 100+ production agents on eve internally, including a data analyst tool handling 30,000+ queries a month and an autonomous SDR agent.
