Whatnot, a livestream shopping app, has acquired Shaped, a machine learning company, to enhance its real-time recommendation and search capabilities as it expands into new product categories and buyer bases. Shaped’s technology integrates customer data with large language models and machine learning to deliver personalized experiences, reducing recommendation latency from days to minutes. The acquisition includes Shaped’s founder and CEO, Tullie Murrell, and nearly a dozen engineers, who will join Whatnot to further improve its AI-driven recommendation engine.
