Okta buys AI security startup Permiso — source says for about $200M

Okta, an identity management company, has acquired Permiso Security, an AI identity security startup, for just under $200 million, with the deal structured as an all-cash transaction. The acquisition is expected to close in Okta’s third quarter of fiscal 2027, following customary closing conditions. Permiso, co-founded by former FireEye executives, focuses on detecting malicious activity using stolen identities in cloud environments and has expanded its platform to monitor AI agents. Okta aims to enhance its offerings in securing non-human identities, such as AI agents, as enterprises increasingly deploy autonomous software.
