Microsoft is merging its Copilot apps into a unified interface, removing duplicate icons in the taskbar and system tray, and combining features from Copilot chat and image creation with Microsoft 365 for a streamlined experience. The update will begin with mobile and web apps in mid-August, with Windows and Mac versions set for mid-September, and users will be prompted to download the new app. Existing Copilot users will transition to the updated version, while Microsoft 365 Copilot users will see minor changes and access to Copilot chat. The changes follow Microsoft's appointment of a new Copilot chief to oversee both consumer and commercial sides of the AI assistant.
