
NASA’s Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope will launch in early 2025 and feature an active coronagraph that will block starlight, enabling the detection of exoplanets. The instrument will allow astronomers to directly image planets similar to Jupiter and study their atmospheric chemistry. The coronagraph will enhance sensitivity to exoplanets by up to 1,000 times, using active wavefront control and masks to suppress starlight and preserve planetary light.
