Nvidia is sending GPUs to the moon
Nvidia’s Jetson platform is integrated into Lunar Outpost’s next moon rover, enabling local processing of sensor data and rapid decision-making, while NASA aims to return humans to the moon by 2028. The rover, packaged on a lander built by Intuitive Machines, will explore Reiner Gamma, and Nvidia partners with Firefly Aerospace to operate a moon-orbiting satellite. The platform faces challenges from the lunar environment, but Lunar Outpost aims to develop autonomous systems for sustained human presence. Pegasus, a larger rover, is awaiting a Blue Origin rocket, with its launch delayed but expected to align with NASA’s 2028 timeline.
