Anthropic launches Opus 5
Anthropic released Opus 5, a smaller and cheaper version of its model, offering improved performance and fewer restrictions compared to Fable 5. It avoids the 30-day data retention policy and includes safeguards that limit vulnerability scanning in binaries but allow it to search in source code. The new tool, Automatic Fallbacks, routes requests to a less powerful model when safety classifiers trigger, ensuring functional responses instead of errors.
