A group of 26 former Meta employees is suing the company, alleging that AI tools used in workforce decisions disproportionately targeted employees on parental or medical leave, despite the AI not accounting for their leave status. The lawsuit claims Meta violated anti-discrimination laws by failing to exclude such employees from layoffs, which were part of a 10% staff reduction plan. Meta denied the allegations, stating that workforce decisions were made by humans, not AI.
