Anthropic is turning Claude Code’s auto mode on by default
Anthropic is setting auto mode as the default for Pro, Max, and Team accounts in Claude Code, starting on August 14, to reduce human oversight in programming. Auto mode catches 89% of harmful actions, compared to 13.6% in manual review, and includes features like prompt injection screening and customizable hard deny rules to prevent data exfiltration. The company emphasizes that auto mode is safer than manual review, as users approve 97% of permission prompts.
