Elon Musk has increasingly shifted his focus from automotive to artificial intelligence and robotics, with AI topics now taking nearly 50% of his remarks in quarterly earnings calls. His attention has moved to projects like the Optimus robot and autonomous robotaxis, while his core automotive business has slowed, and he spends less than a third of his time on earnings calls discussing cars and manufacturing. Other executives, such as CFO Vaibhav Taneja and vice president of engineering Lars Moravy, are lagging behind Musk in their focus on AI and robotics, as these efforts are not yet generating real returns.
