This $9 key physically locks your most addictive apps
Autonomous Key is a physical NFC key that pairs with a companion app to lock distracting apps, requiring users to scan the key with their phone to regain access. It is cheaper than competitors like Blok and Unpluq, and works on Android 8.0 or later and iOS 15 or later devices. The key offers AI-powered insights and can be paired with multiple phones, but some users found it less reliable for locking important apps like messaging. The company is developing a backup unlock method and is in beta, with shipping earlier this month.
